Speaking their own language at Howard Street

Date published: 07 April 2009

Parents and children from Howard Street Children’s Centre have enjoyed a special week of celebration of language.

Families were treated to stories read by parents in their own Mother Tongue.

It was a marvellous opportunity to share in the diverse languages of families in the area, Lingala, Urdu, Otomu, Arabic and Yoruba

Paula the Senior Early Years Worker at the centre said: "It was a fantastic chance for the parents to be involved. They were eager to take part and very excited although a little nervous."
