Noorul survives week one

Date published: 26 March 2009

Rochdale's Apprentice Noorul Choudhury went through the first episode of the programme unscathed as the boys' team won this week's challenge.

Mr Choudhury enjoyed a fairly quiet opening to his Apprentice career, shining shoes to help his team to victory over the girls.

The teams had ten hours to get their cleaning businesses to turn a profit. The boys' team secured a contract to valet 30 mini cabs and team leader Howard ordered half of his team to get the cabs clean, while the other half, including Mr Choudhury, went out shoe-shining at a shopping precinct.

The car cleaning doesn't exactly go accoring to plan and Noorul and his colleagues are left to shine shoes while Howard returns to speed up the valeting process.

The boys emerged from the first challenge victorious. They made £10 less than the girls but spent less on the cleaning materials to turn over a higher profit.

The girls' Anita Shah was the first Apprentice to be fired, while Noorul and his team-mates enjoyed the taste of Cocktails made by professional barmen as a reward for their victory.
