Lynne Dell and Stephen Horrocks hope people will come forward to see what they can do for them
A new charity has been launched in town – aimed solely at helping people out of debt.
The Debt Advice Network has worked with a number of local homeowners, some of which are facing stress-related health problems because of the financial demands during the economic downturn.
Charity adviser Stephen Horrocks, who was born and bred in Castleton, says he is determined to help local people get though the tough times, and urges people to come forward to see what he can do for them.
He said: “I’ve been working with families who are petrified they are losing their house. I’ve been a victim of heavy debts myself and I hold a lot of compassion for other people, which is why I’m working for the charity to help as much as I can”.
The Debt Advice Network is an organisation is a registered charity whose primary function is to provide free, impartial, professional, face-to-face advice to people with debt problems.
It was given charitable status in June 2008, after providing debt advice to the public since 2005.
Mr. Horrocks added: “We just want people to know we are here to help and we are not after gaining money from anyone.”
“I specifically want to help those who are facing repossession or eviction, and we do not turn anyone away”.
