Membership of a popular children’s activity club ion Heywood is still growing a year after it was formed.
More and more children are joining in the fun at the Young Explorers’ Club, based in Queen’s Park, which is celebrating its first birthday later this month.
Several members have been attending for a year but there has been a sudden influx in new members in February and March.
Most of the new members heard about the club from friends who were able to tell them first-hand about the unusual and exciting activities on offer.
The club directly encourages youngsters to get in touch with and experience nature in ways they may not have done before. Activities include making mud sculptures, making mini-boats, birdwatching and tree climbing.
The club is open to all 8-13 year olds and runs from 10 to 11.30am every Saturday morning at the Park Lodge.
The sessions are run by BTCV in partnership with the RMBC Play Development Team and funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
New members are always welcome to meet at the Lodge or ring Kate Sutton at BTCV on 01706 713244 for more information.
