Walkers get set for ‘Hospice to Hospice’
Date published: 16 March 2009
Ramblers are getting ready for a seven and a quarter mile trek from ‘Hospice to Hospice’ to raise money for charity.
The walk will commence from both Springhill Hospice, Rochdale, and Dr Kershaw’s Hospice- all the way in Royton, and will create a circular walking route on Sunday 26th April.
The walk, at 10:30am, takes a 7.25 mile circular route between the two sites, with each hospice providing a refreshment break for participants at the half-way stage.
Ian Jenkins, Springhill Hospice Fundraising manager, says, “This is the fourth year that we have organised this walk in conjunction with Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, and with more and more people taking part each year the event has become very popular, raising many £1000’s for both charities.
We are hoping that even more people will take part this year to help us celebrate our 20th anniversary."
Anybody wishing to walk for Springhill Hospice should register with the Fundraising Office on 01706 649920 to receive their sponsor form and event details.
Each participant will receive a medal at the end of their walk and the event is open to all ages (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult) - fancy dress is optional.
