RBH calls for tenant involvement

Date published: 04 October 2007

An element of fun will be added to the annual Tenant’s Conference for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) to be held on 13 October 2007 at Rochdale Town Hall.

From bollywood dancing to home repair and D.I.Y. workshops, the day has something to attract all RBH tenants who can join together for a day of entertainment and to obtain information about a range of services. And to end the day on a high note there will be a special appearance from the young singers and dancers that have formed Middleton Popstars.

The organisation are keen to continue building on excellent tenant relations and encourage more tenants to get involved in the management of their housing.

RBH Acting Managing Director, Gareth Swarbrick, said: “The borough of Rochdale is a diverse community and we are aiming to attract more people to our tenants’ groups to reflect that. On the day they will be able to engage with staff from RBH and other local agencies. By encouraging more tenants from a cross section of the community to get involved it will help us to meet everyone’s needs.”

This year the focus has been on trying to make the Conference Day less formal so a whole array of activities have been planned, which include music making, a tombola, flower arranging, bran tubs for children, nail art, head and neck massage sessions.

However, tenants will also have the opportunity to get advice from RBH staff on housing issues and find out how they can make an impact on the areas that they live in.

Gill Walch, Chair of the RBH Board said: "The conference is a great opportunity for tenants to join together with staff for a fun and lively day. We hope as many tenants as possible will come along to make their voices heard."

Representatives from other agencies such as Next Step, Connexions, Safer Communities Partnership, Clean and Green and the Carers Resource Centre will also be at the event, encouraging tenants to seek advice and guidance on issues that may be affecting them.

All RBH tenants are invited along to the Tenant’s Conference and Fun Day, which begins at 10am and is expected to finish at around 3pm. Tenants who require further information may contact Betty Whiston or Doug Croxon:
