Police officers investigating the scene at the petrol station on Newhey Road.
The getaway car used in yesterday’s armed robbery in Milnrow has been recovered by police, but they are still hunting down the robbers.
As reported by Rochdale Online, four masked robbers with “hammers” targeted a petrol station on Newhey Road, Milnrow at 10am (Thursday 12 March).
Police later specified that the three men were armed with a crowbar and a sledgehammer.
The robbers escaped with a fourth man in a small 4x4 with a large amount of cash, the exact amount has not been specified.
A car matching the description of the one used was found abandoned a short time later, and police are now appealing for any information to help them in their search to find the robbers.
Witnesses are asked to call Rochdale CID on 0161 856 4644 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
The petrol station re-opened for business yesterday afternoon.
