More than 100 schoolchildren scrummed down to learn techniques to play better rugby.
The youngsters, aged seven to 16, took part in team building and communication sessions at Hopwood Hall College, Middleton, led by soldiers from Bury’s Holcombe Moor Training Centre and Total Rugby Camps.
Sgt Lee Robinson said: “Total Rugby Camps are as much about skill, discipline and theory as about learning new rugby techniques, which is why as a unit we were so interested in getting involved.
“We are keen to get on board with initiatives that encourage youngsters to be active and play an important role in the local community.
“The event was a huge success and we anticipate it will become a regular occurrence."
