Woman sets handbag on fire

Fire fighters were called to a woman’s house after she set her handbag on fire.
Crews attended Ashfield House, Milkstone Road, after a cigarette lighter is thought to have ignited, sparking a blaze at1.15pm today (Monday 9 March).
Two fire engines, one from Rochdale and one from Heywood, attended the scene and put the flames out quickly. No-one was injured in the incident.
A spokesman from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was started in the ladies handbag and escalated to cause damage to the kitchen area of the house.
“No-one was injured and the fire was dealt with”.
