Let firefighters buff up your bodywork

Date published: 07 March 2009

Fire crews will be aiming their hosepipes at cars instead of fires this weekend, as they take part Firefighters Charity National Car Wash 2009.

Rochdale Fire Station is one of many across the country which has opened its doors for they even today (Saturday 7 March).

As well as an opportunity to get your car washed by strapping young men, it is also an opportunity for people to have a chat with local firefighters about keeping homes safe from fire.

Crews would take kindly to any donations made to the Firefighters Charity.

County Fire Officer Barry Dixon said, "The National Car Wash Day is a great opportunity for us to raise money for a worthwhile cause which has benefited many fire-fighters and their families over the years. On Saturday we hope to see thousands of gleaming cars on the streets of Greater Manchester"

“So if you have a dirty car and can't be bothered cleaning it then why not take it to a fire station near you and let the firefighters do it for you”.
