Business Standards community clean up
Date published: 03 March 2009
As part of the Tidy Business Standards award scheme, Rochdale MBC and Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale are working in partnership urging businesses to lend a helping hand at a community clean up taking place on The Landing Industrial Estate Car Park.
The clean up will take place on Thursday 12th March from 12:00pm. Groundwork are asking that businesses give as much time as possible to contribute to the improvement of the area – even if it’s just 10 minutes.
Vickie Sorotos, Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale, said: “This project is beneficial to all local business members as it provides a chance for locals to get together to clean up the business community area, resulting in keeping away vermin, and making the area safer.”
Keeping the Borough of Rochdale clean and tidy is important to everyone that lives, works and visits the area. Tidy Business Standards is an initiative to encourage businesses to reduce litter and have a good system in place for waste management. There is an additional focus on showing support to the local community and schools.
Mr Shah from Searz which is a letting business located on Drake Street said: “The litter pick gave me a chance to get involved in clearing up my business area. I am proud I have taken part and would be willing to join in again with a future litter pick. They are practical and as I attended in my dinner I did not have to get any cover whilst I was away from my desk”.
