Firefighters set to put a shine back onto cars

Date published: 02 March 2009

The Firefighters Charity National Car Wash 2009 is taking place on Saturday (7 March).
The firestations at Rochdale, Littleborough and Heywood are all hosting car washes between 10am and 4pm and with the winter weather now coming to a close, this weekend is a great opportunity to wash away the dirt from your vehicles.

The events taking place on Saturday will also be an opportunity for people to have a chat with local firefighters about keeping their homes safe from fire, whilst their car is being given a spring clean.

Of course, there is a very serious reason as to why this event is taking place at Fire Stations across the UK; to raise much needed funds for the Firefighters Charity. In return for cleaning your car, firefighters will be asking for a small donation for your support.

The day will be a chance to brush up on your home fire safety and drive away with a spotlessly clean car whilst helping the charity support your firefighters in times of need.

County Fire Officer Barry Dixon said: “The National Car Wash Day is a great opportunity for us to raise money for a worthwhile cause which has benefited many fire-fighters and their families over the years. On Saturday we hope to see thousands of gleaming cars on the streets of Greater Manchester.”

So if you have a dirty car and can’t be bothered cleaning it then take it to a fire station and let the firefighters do it for you.
