The Caterpillar’s winning smile
Date published: 02 March 2009

Sandbrook Children's Centre's winning Hungry Caterpillar design with Kathleen Gordon, Gill Batterby and Adele Ashton, who attended the presentation evening.
It was smiles all the way as children from Sandbrook Children’s Centre beat off toothy competition to win first prize at Rochdale’s Golden Grin Presentation Evening.
Their winning design depicted the hungry caterpillar, a popular children’s book which tells of the good and the not so good foods that he ate.
Their winning efforts were rewarded with two puppets with brushable teeth for use in the centre and lots of food related games.
The Golden Grin is awarded to organisations that can prove they have promoted healthy eating and healthy teeth to the children that they work with. The competition was for the various childcare providers in Rochdale to show how they promoted the Golden Grin in their own settings.
Kathleen Gordon, Gill Batterby and Adele Ashton, attended the presentation evening on behalf of Sandbrook Children’s Centre, Crèche n Co and Sandbrook Nursery.
The evening consisted of a presentation of the Golden Grin Award by Sure Start Food Worker Andrew Forrest and various food related activities.
