Firefighter in racially motivated attack
Date published: 01 March 2009
An off duty firefighter suffered minor injuries when he was attacked in what has been described by police as a racially motivated assault.
The man was attacked by a gang of around 15 Asian teenagers while cycling along Entwisle Road in Wardleworth last week.
The 38-year old suffered minor injuries after a brick was thrown at his head. He was fortunate that the injuries were not more serious as he was protected by his cycle helmet.
The yobs yelled racial abuse at the victim during the attack before he was able to ride away.
