Couple rescued from Heywood blaze

A couple were rescued after an unattended cooking pan caught fire in a flat in Heywood during the early hours of this morning (Friday 27 February).
Three fire crews, from Heywood, Bury and Rochdale, were needed to tackle the blaze and rescue the couple from the second floor flat at Angel Meadows on St James Street at around 00:15am.
The casualties, a 29 year old man and a 25 year old woman, suffered the effects of smoke inhilation but declined hospital treatment.
Firefighters used a Hose Reel to tackle the fire, which started when a pan of food on a cooker was left unattended, whilst wearing Breathing Apparatus.
