Heartless carjackers target pensioners

Heartless carjackers attacked elderly drivers in two separate incidents over the weekend.

The first robbery took place in Sautridge Close, Castleton, at around 8.05pm on Friday.

A 63-year-old man was sat in his own driveway when a yob dragged him out and climbed into the driver’s seat while a second man got into the passenger seat.

A third robber appeared with a hammer which he used to threaten the old man.

The thieves are all described as white and wearing dark clothing. The first two are thought to be in their mid-twenties and the third around 14 or 15 years old.

A second carjacking took place just minutes later in Everest Street, Kirkholt, this time with a 66-year-old woman as she was leaving her home.

A man demanded she got out of her red Ford Fiesta. The thieves made off with her car which was later found Newbold Street.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said: “Two 18-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and have been bailed pending further inquiries”.
