Rochdale Football Club
A born and bred Rochdale youngster realised his sporting dream today when he signed a professional football contract with his hometown club.
18-year old defender Craig Dawson has joined the Spotland side on a two-year deal from local non-league outfit Radcliffe Borough.
Dawson's name will already be familiar with cricket followers in the borough as he spends his summers playing for Rochdale at Redbrook so he has the chance to become one of few players to represent the town at both sports.
He told the Rochdale club website: "I live just around the corner so this is a brilliant move for me.
"Though there are some very good players in front of me, I am hopeful I will get my chance in the first team this season."
