Share the joy of your favourite book

Date published: 20 February 2009

Children throughout Rochdale can win a prize by describing their favourite book.

The Council is asking children to submit their reviews of their number one read - books that take them to another world or where characters come to life.

The book review competition is called 'riveting read' and forms part of the borough's World Book Day celebrations on Thursday 5 March.

All you have to do is review a book in no more than 250 words, describing the book and why you like it.

There are two age categories, up to 11 and 12 to 16.

Entries can be handed in at any library in the borough up to 19 March.

Winners, who will be notified in early April, will receive a book token, but will also see their name in print as winning reviews will be posted on Rochdale Online, the library website and displayed in libraries themselves.

Ray Stearn, Children’s Services Manager at the Wheatsheaf Library in Rochdale said: “Every day is a world of books in your local library and this is a great opportunity for the children of the borough to get involved and help us to celebrate the enjoyment of reading by telling us about their favourite book.”
