Investigation into mystery death of toddler
Date published: 19 February 2009
Police have launched an investigation into the mystery death of a one-year old boy.
The child was admitted to Rochdale Infirmary on Sunday (15 February) in a collapsed state and later died.
A post-mortem examination into the boy's death proved inconclusive.
Greater Manchester Police are working to determine the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding it.
Terry Piggott, director of children’s services at Rochdale Council, said: “The death of any young child is an absolute tragedy and I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family.
"A police and coroner’s investigation is ongoing and so until a cause of death has been established it would be inappropriate for me to comment further.”
