Headteacher needs reconstructive surgery after restaurant assault

A man requires reconstructive surgery after he was glassed in a restaurant on Milkstone Road on Tuesday night (17 February).
The assault occurred at around 11pm at the Kapana Indian Restaurant when a man smashed two glasses into the headteacher's face.
Kieran Heakin, who is a primary school headteacher in Burnley but lives in Shawclough, is in a stable condition in hospital following the attack. He was previously head at St John's Catholic Primary in Rochdale.
Mr Heakin, who is in his late 50s, suffered serious facial injuries in the unprovoked assault.
Four men, aged 22, 23, 30, 36 and a fifth man have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.
All remain in police custody for questioning.
Inquiries are continuing.
