New inspectors for Rochdale North and Pennines
Date published: 17 February 2009
Rochdale’s division of Greater Manchester Police has two new Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspectors.
Inspector Lin Houldershaw, formally Neighbourhood Inspector for the Pennine Neighbourhood Policing Team, has moved over to Rochdale north while Inspector Jem Davies, who previously worked as a Response Inspector at Rochdale Police Station and as neighbourhood sergeant at Heywood, has been appointed as the Pennine’s new Neighbourhood Inspector.
Inspectors Houldershaw and Davies join Inspector Gary Hall, Inspector Darrell Butterworth and Inspector Michelle Hughes for Middleton, Heywood and Rochdale south respectively.
The five Neighbourhood Policing Teams will continue working to tackle local priorities including burglary, criminal damage and anti-social behaviour.
Jem Davies, Pennine Neighbourhood Inspector, said: “I’m looking forward to working with the local community and partner agencies including Rochdale Borough Council, youth services, local housing associations, as well as drug and alcohol services to reduce crime in the area and improve the quality of life for residents.
“Youth nuisance and anti-social behaviour continues to be a concern for the Pennines, but I am pleased to see a reduction in the number of domestic burglaries in the Pennine area. This is through success of initiatives such as Operation Beauty, which was our pre-Christmas burglary initiative. This helped reduce domestic burglaries to below our target for the third consecutive month and this news is very welcome.
“I look forward to seeing further reductions across all areas of crime, in turn making the Pennines a safer place to live.”
Lin Houldershaw, new Inspector for Rochdale North said: “Neighbourhood Policing is vital in making sure we can address the issues and problems that are most important to our residents and businesses. While at the Pennines I had some fantastic successes in reducing burglaries, and I look forward to doing the same here in Rochdale North.
“Vehicle crime has been a priority for the Rochdale North Team as we hold the majority of town centre car parking, both on street and off. This has led to a reduction of theft of vehicle by 40 per cent and theft from vehicles by 30 per cent.
“A lot of work has been done with community safety in deploying talking signs to hot spot locations reminding members of the public to remove valuables before leaving their cars and a number of safe plate initiatives have also been run to reduce car crime and plate theft.”
