Foster mum arrested for child-beating allegation

A foster mum has been arrested over allegations she assaulted a toddler in her care.
The woman, who has been suspended from Rochdale Council, was caught on camera by a member of the public who filmed an alleged attack on the three-year-old child on a mobile phone.
The carer is understood to have worked for the council for several years, dealing with young children in need of emergency care.
Greater Manchester Police and Rochdale Borough Council have confirmed they are investigating the incident.
Police are now investigating reports that a three-year-old boy was kicked and hit on the head.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault, and has been released on bail until April 6.
The three-year-old boy has been placed with another carer.
A spokesman from Greater Manchester Police Said: “At 12.45am on Tuesday 13 January 2009 to an address in Heywood, following reports a child had been assaulted.
A woman was arrested on suspicious of section 47 assault and bailed until Monday 6 April, pending further inquiries.
Steve Titcombe, Head of Children’s Social Care, Rochdale Borough Council said: "The individual is no longer operating and no children are being placed with this foster carer. The allegations are being fully investigated, and if proven the individual will be de-registered."
