Date published: 17 February 2009

There’s no excuse not to improve your fitness after visiting next month's Live Life event on Monday 2 March.

1000 three month gym memberships will be given away, providing free access to Link 4 Life gyms, fitness classes and swimming pools.

You can get fit for free at one of five gyms in the borough, including the new Middleton Arena, Central Leisure Rochdale, Heywood Sports Complex, Bowlee Park Sports Centre or Littleborough Sports Centre.

The participating centres are guaranteed to suit any taste or level of fitness. A typical centre has a swimming pool, fully-equipped gym, sauna, steam room and aerobics studio. In addition, all centres included in the offer provide a wide choice of classes to suit including spinning through to yoga and pilates and aerobics classes – all free for three months with the Live Life passes.

In a bid to encourage a healthier and more active lifestyle NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale are funding 500 free three month adult memberships to be given away at the event, plus 500 free three month passes to the SHOKK gym for 8-15 year olds.

Rochdale Council has joined up with NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR) for the big Live Life event, to offer a range of free interactive demonstrations, activities and advice.

Special guests on the line up include Coronation Street stars Beverley Callard and Samia Smith, best known as Liz McDonald and Maria Connor.

Admission to Live Life is free and complimentary refreshments will be served all day. Doors open to the public at 11.00 am, closing at 8.00 pm. Samia Smith will appear in the evening between 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm. Her co-star Beverley Callard, who plays Liz McDonald will be there from 12.30 pm – 3.00 pm if you are planning an afternoon visit.
