Tortured puppies found dying in a box

A group of shivering puppies had their tails cut off and were left to die in a cardboard box.
Vet Jane Baines said that the traumatised pups would almost certainly have died if they had been left out in the cold overnight on land between Gaskell Pool and Morrisons supermarket, Heywood.
The tiny infants were rescued by a passer by, who took them to the Heywood Veterinary Centre on Bridge Street. They look set to make a full recovery and are being housed at the centre until new homes can be found.
