Nine different charities and community organisations were presented with cheques from the Rotary Club of Middleton earlier this week.
The rotary club entertained guests from the charities on Monday evening (9 February) before handing over the donations, which came from the rotary club's fundraising efforts over the Christmas period. These included money raised by Father Christmas at Middleton's Arndale shopping centre and a rotary float around the streets of Middleton.
Vice President Peter Hayward presented the cheques. He said: "These evenings are always great events, it makes all the hard work put in by Rotarians over the Christmas period very worthwhile. It is quite humbling to hear from the charities what they get up to and how the donations will help them in the near future. It makes it even more worthwhile to be involved in this great organisation called Rotary.
"Middleton Rotary Club would like to place on record their thanks to the kind people of Middleton who donated money."
Middleton Scouts, Inner Wheel, Making Space, Middleton Girl Guides, Middleton Round Table, MTCT - a community hut project, Springhill Hospice, St Mary's RC School and Francis House Childrens' Hospice were all presented with cheques on the night.
