It's a well known fact that the Great Train Robbery of 8 August 1963 happened at the Bridego Railway Bridge in Buckinghamshire, but for one night only Heywood will be hosting Ronnie Biggs and co in a remake of that infamous night.
Television crews will be filming a documentary of the robbery on the East Lancs Railway between Heywood and Bury late on Thursday night and into Friday morning.
One of the railway's steam engines will be used in the programme. The D335 will appear as the locomotive that carried £2million from Glasgow to Watford, which stolen by Bruce Reynolds and his 15 man gang. The engine will have its number changed to D326 - the number of the original train.
The programme is part of a documentary series 'Crimes that shook Great Britain', which will be shown on Sky later this year.
