Taxi driver hurt in five-car smash (Castleton)

A taxi driver was injured after a suspected drink driver caused a five-car smash in Castleton.

The Globe taxi driver was making his way past the New Inn pub when he ploughed into two other cars which had already crashed at 7.00pm on Friday night (February 6).

Luckily, despite the drivers suffering minor injuries, no-one needed hospital treatment, and the taxi driver is believed to se safe and back on the road.

A manager from Globe said: “The driver crashed after the initial accident had happened. He is doing fine now and is still working”.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers attended the scene and found that five cars had been involved in a collision; a Toyota Corolla, a Ford Fiesta, Toyota Avensis, Honda Accord and a Toyota MR2.

“Three people had minor injuries and did not need hospital treatment. One man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

“Police inquiries are ongoing”.
