Young parents get into festive spirit early
Date published: 10 October 2007
Young Parents in the Hollin area of Middleton will be coming together from the beginning of November to join in a variety of Christmas Craft Activities, health sessions and glass and silk painting sessions.
The launch of the Young Parents Group at Hollin Children’s Centre is on 6 November, and as well as the creative classes, parents will have chance to spend time chatting and sharing experiences whilst their children are looked after in the crèche. Peer Mentors, and local parents Aimee Thomas and Brittany Hall have been promoting the event and encouraging other mums and dads to join them.
Young Parent worker Alison Horton is managing the launch, she said: “It’s important that young parents feel supported and not isolated when bringing up children. This group will allow them some ‘me time’ to have a brew without the children and the opportunity to do some craft activities for themselves.”
The group will be meeting every week from 1pm – 3pm from 6 November. Lunch will be provided on the first session which will then run weekly. There is a free crèche available.
