Brave MS sufferer launches social therapy

Date published: 06 February 2009

A woman whose life was turned upside down by an auto-immune disease is setting up a social group to help other sufferers.

Juliet Dollard was told by doctors she had Multiple Sclerosis five years ago after she had lost full control of her legs.

Now, after living with the disease and finding herself frustrated and isolated, she has decided to launch a social group aimed specifically at young people who have had their social lives restricted because of the illness

Juliet, 44, has joined forced with fellow sufferer Liz Brown from Oldham and have been holding monthly meetings to plan up and coming events such as theatre trips and yoga and tai-chi classes.

The launch event will take place on Thursday 19 February at Clayton Brewers Fayre, Oldham, and another event will take place in Rochdale in March. Full details for the Rochdale event are to be announced.

Juliet said: “I have had MS for five years now and I know how important it is to know other people are in the same boat.

“We want this to be informal and fun, but a place where people can relate to one another.

“All the events will be free of charge and the intention behind it is purely to get people who have things in common together”.

Anybody interested in the launch or future events can contact Juliet Dollard
