Sort out your area with a Big Clean litter pick

GET A GRIP! Councillor Wera Hobhouse and members of the Wardle Society get set for a Big Clean litter pick.
Rochdale residents are being urged to make a real difference to their area by working with the council to host a Big Clean litter pick.
The council will help people organise their litter pick and provide them with litter pick posters so they can put them up in public places and tell people about it.
On the day of the litter pick the council will send officers to provide support and will arrange to deliver and pick up all the equipment needed, such as litter pickers, gloves, rubbish bags, high visibility vests and health and safety guidance. The council will also collect the bags of rubbish.
Councillor Wera Hobhouse, cabinet member for environment and sustainability, said: “What better way to put something back into the local community by working with the council and doing a litter pick? You’ll be amazed by how much rubbish you actually collect and when you look back and see what you’ve achieved you’ll have a great feeling of satisfaction.
“We’ve had tremendous support from the public and businesses for the Big Clean and we need that to continue. We’re absolutely determined to make this area a cleaner, tidier place for everyone so please get behind the Big Clean.”
Everyone who took part will receive a Big Clean litter pick certificate in appreciation of their hard work.
If you want to organise a Big Clean litter pick in your area or you want to report a grot spot, call the Big Clean hotline on 0845 226 1800 or email environmental.management@rochdale.gov.uk
