Date published: 06 February 2009
A man has been charged after a car was shot at in Heywood last month.
27-year old John Lamb, of Bury New Road, Heywood, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and witness intimidation.
He is due to appear at Rochdale Magistrates Court today (Friday 6 February).
A car was shot at on Whalley Road near the junction with Sabden Close in Heywood at about 12.20am on Sunday 25 January.
Four men were driving along Bury New Road towards Heywood in a silver Volkswagen Golf when two men in a blue Subaru pulled up alongside them and began driving eratically, flashing their lights and blocking the Volkswagen.
The Volkswagen pulled off into Whalley Road and one of the victims got out to confront the men.
It was then that a gun was fired by one of the men in the Subaru. No one was hit by the shot.
The Subaru was found burnt out on Ashworth Road later that evening.
