Horror of puppies kicked and burned in Newbold
Date published: 05 February 2009
Rochdale residents have expressed their horror after news that two puppies were kicked and burned by a gang of youths in Newbold last week.
Seven week old dogs Guy and Cinders were handed over a fire nearby the canal before a member of the public chased the boys away and rescued the puppies.
The dogs were given to the RSPCA and they are appealing for information in relation to the incident.
Black and tan bitch Cinders had singe marks on her head after being passed through the flames, while brown pup Guy has a hernia and a heart murmur, but these were not necessarily caused by the attack.
Rochdale RSPCA has said that the dogs were shaken when they were first brought in but are now back to normal.
RSPCA inspector Alison Wilkinson said: "The RSPCA is investigating this incident and wants to hear from anyone who has any specific information about what happened as soon as possible."
