Will Tang will provide musical entertainment at Scribble on the Mic at Rochdale Town Hall.
Rochdale Town Hall is hosting an evening of poetry, music and celebration on Thursday 19 February.
The event runs from 6pm to 9pm and will include some top North West poets as well as local participants and writers.
Comic poet Julian Daniel is host for the evening and he will introduce Tony Walsh (national poetry slam winner extraordinaire), Tachia Newall (Waterloo Road’s finest young actor – and poet), Joy Winkler (former Cheshire Poet Laureate), Ben Mellor (Manchester’s most exciting new performer), Shamshad Khan (a truly mesmerizing artist) and Zahid Hussain (inspiring and dynamic poet and writer of the bestselling novel Curry Mile).
The very best of Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton writers including Frank Chinn, Seamus Kelly, Katie Haigh and Chanda Kapesa will also join the line-up to take centre stage and share their talents.
Music will be courtesy of Rochdale-born, globetrotting lyricist, Will Tang.
The event is free and there is no need to book, just turn up on the night.
Scribble on the Mic! Co-ordinator Kim Haygarth enthused: “This is going to be one extremely special evening and we are honoured to have the very best of the region’s talent all under one roof! It’s a really fitting finale to this phase of our Tell Us Another One project and we absolutely guarantee that a brilliant night will be had by all. So come and join us – you will not be disappointed!”
Scribble on the Mic! ends an afternoon of workshops and discussions about community literature, also organised by Cartwheel Arts. This daytime event is open to all and is aimed at anyone who has an interest in using the arts to build stronger communities.
