Date published: 03 February 2009
The woman who drove a glass into the face of a trainee teacher on a nightclub dance floor has been jailed for 18 months.
Lisa Scraggs became aggressive towards Laura Clarke, 21 as she danced with friends in a Manchester nightclub in September 2007.
The 23-year-old glassed her in the face with such force she was left with two deep wounds which paramedics say were an inch away from death.
Laura Clarke, a student teacher, needed 20 stitches on her face, on wounds that were close to her eye and jugular vein.
Scraggs, of Middleton denied the wounding charge and was convicted by a jury. She was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.
