St Patrick's Primary School in Foxholes closed early this afternoon due to the snow.
The snow may put paid to tomorrow's bin collections.
Rochdale Council is asking residents who normally have their bins emptied on a Tuesday to keep an eye on the news because their collections could be cancelled if the severe weather continues.
Residents can check the council website, www.rochdale.gov.uk, or telephone 0845 226 1800, to see if their service has been affected.
Due to the adverse weather this evening, all of the libraries in the borough will close at 6.00 pm tonight. Normal opening hours will resume in the morning.
As the snow gets heavier overnight more schools may close tomorrow. Matthew Moss has been closed all day today, while St. Patrick's primary and Middleton primary sent pupils home early this afternoon.
