Chief Superintendent Peter Mason
The Chief Superintendent of Rochdale's police force has announced that he will retire next month.
Peter Mason has headed Rochdale police for two years and next month his 30 year police career will come to an end.
Chief Superintendent Mason began his career at 18 with the Lancashire Constabulary and policed throughout the county before transferring to Greater Manchester Police. He became Chief Superintendent of Rochdale in 2007.
The 48-year old introduced neighbourhood policing teams to the area and gave individual officers responsibility for certain areas in a return to 'bobbies on the beat' policing.
Chief Superintendent John O'Hare will replace Peter Mason shortly.
