Police release E-fit of Middleton armed robber

Date published: 30 January 2009

Police have released an E-fit of a man involved in an armed robbery at a house in Middleton, in which a father and his son were assaulted.

At around 11.30pm on Tuesday 6 January four or five men, one armed with a baseball bat, forced their way through the front door of the Mossway home and confronted the 52-year old man and his son, 22.

The young man tried to push the offenders out of the house but they forced their way passed him and kicked him a number of times, while the father was hit over the back of the head with the bat.

The father had to have his head stapled as a result of the assault and his son suffered severe bruising.

The offenders stole a set of car keys for a red Honda Civic Type R, which was parked outside, and made their escape in the car.

The car was found abandoned on St Asaph Drive, Salford, on Friday 9 January.

Police Constable Michael Berger from the robbery unit said: “We have managed to get an E-fit of one of the men involved in this vicious attack and I would urge people to take a good look at it to see if you recognise the man.

“The car was recovered in Salford so it is possible the offenders could be from around that area and it is important that anyone who believes they know someone from this dangerous group contacts police.

”These men are willing to use violence to get what they want and it is vital we catch them before they harm anyone else.”

One of the men is described as white with pale skin, aged 17 to 18 years old, with an oval shaped face, short dark brown hair, blue eyes, and a long thin nose. The other offenders are described as white, aged 18 to 20 years old, 5ft 7in tall, of slim build with short dark brown hair

Anyone with any information is asked to call the robbery unit on 0161 856 8632 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
