Live Life show to make healthy living fun
The Live Life healthy living exhibition is back for 2009.
Live Life will be staged at the new Middleton Arena on Monday 2 March, with a host of ideas and help to get Rochdale residents leading a healthier lifestyle and having fun while they’re at it.
Once again Rochdale Council has teamed up with NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR) for the day, to offer a range of free interactive demonstrations, giveaways, activities and talks. Whatever your age, organisers promise there’ll be something for everyone.
A wide range of demonstrations will be on show, covering all aspects of healthy living including physical activity, diabetes, sexual health, healthy eating, nutrition and home safety. There will be taster sessions in stretch and tone and tai chi.
During the evening professional football coaches from the Manchester United Foundation will also be appearing.
There will be lots of ideas and tips for leading a healthier life, including quitting smoking, blood pressure, BMI, glucose, hearing and cholesterol checks. If you’d like to be more active you’ll be able to get help, plus ideas on volunteering opportunities, and for the over 55’s there’ll be a full range of ideas and support.
A pharmacist will be on hand all day for free help and advice.
The council’s community safety team will be providing advice on crime reduction, personal safety, drugs and domestic violence.
Special celebrity guests will be popping in throughout the day to chat to visitors and pick up some tips for leading a healthier life themselves.
Visitors will be able to take part in a laughter workshop, a poetry workshop and see a bicycle that makes smoothies. For children there will be face painting, balloon artists, circus skills, story time and a teddy bears picnic.
Live Life opens at 11am and runs until 8pm. Complimentary fruit and refreshments will be available all day.
Rachel Snow-Miller from the NHS HMR said there will be something for everyone: “Health, arts and culture are the themes this year. This is a big opportunity for everyone across the borough to get involved and learn how to live a healthier lifestyle. There’ll be lots of great ideas to enable you to improve your health and wellbeing…visitors are in for a real treat!”
