Hard-hitting performance gives help to prisoners
Date published: 26 January 2009
Rochdale’s M6 Theatre Company will open its new production, 'Family Business' at a special preview at their Studio Theatre tomorrow night (Tuesday 27 January).
'Family Business' was written by award-winning writer Mary Cooper and tells a hard-hitting, painfully true but ultimately hopeful story of a man behind bars and his son whose violent behaviour is leading him in the same direction.
A Prison Officer at HMP Buckley Hall Prison described the 'spot-on performances' as 'very realistic' saying that the production 'will help prisoners open up'.
Family Business continues M6’s work within prisons and with young offenders or those at risk of offending. It is in collaboration with Action For Prisoners’ Families and will tour nationally to secondary schools, YOI’s and prisons.
Local young people and pupils from Heywood Community High School will be amongst the first to see this brand new show before it embarks on its tour.
The performance at the M6 Studio Theatre starts at 7pm.
