Police in Heywood have appointed the new Neighbourhood Constable who will replace PC Gary Cryer as Beat Manager for West Heywood Ward area.

PC Cryer has moved to a school based role for the three Heywood High schools so will remain within the Heywood Neighbourhood Policing team.

PC Damien Reed, who joins PCSOs Gemma Ainsworth, Jenny George and Sharon Holden, was previously a response officer based at Rochdale and has been a police officer for the past four years. He takes on responsibility for the Summit, Darnhill, Heady Hill, Broadfield and Prettywood areas.

He said: “I am looking forward to the many challenges that lie ahead and working together with the local community and partners in the Heywood West area.”

Off duty PC Reed is a keen footballer, representing both the division and Force.

A new surgery will be running for the Heywood West team at the Guinness Trust Resource Centre, Heywood.

The first surgery is to be held at 3pm on Monday 2 February at Guinness Housing Office, Argyle Parade and then the first Monday of every month.

PC Reed said: “Police surgeries are a good way for the public to meet their local officers and to raise any concerns or issues with them. Heywood officers are committed to Neighbourhood Policing and improving the quality of life for those people living and working in the community.
