Tell the council what you think of its services

Date published: 22 January 2009

Rochdale residents can have their say on access to council services, and suggest ideas to improve the way they are delivered, at An Equalities Listening Event next month.

The event will allow people to comment on the barriers to accessing services and securing employment faced by men, women, younger people, older people, people with disabilities and those from black and ethnic minority communities.

The feedback session is part of Rochdale Council’s commitment to ensuring that everyone is treated fairly and to make sure residents get a say in how council services are run.

Cabinet member for townships and corporate management, Councillor Keith Swift said the council wants to listen to residents, make services more accessible to the public and ensure equality in services.

“It’s vital that we listen to the opinions and thoughts of local people about the services we provide," he said. "It is particularly important to hear how fairly people feel they are treated. I hope that many people will come along and share their ideas with us.”

The Equalities Listening Event is taking place at the Middleton Arena on Tuesday 3 February between 10am and 2pm. There is no admission charge and a free buffet lunch will be served.

You may also be eligible for help with travel expenses.
