Hunting for bears in Newbold?
Date published: 22 January 2009
It may not be Yellow Stone Park, but children at Newbold Children’s Centre will be taking part in a bear hunt next week as part of National Storytelling Week.
On Saturday 7 February between 1pm and 3pm children will be invited to come to the centre dressed as their favourite story character. There will be a whole host of activities, including telling the story of ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ followed by a real 'hunt' round the centre for the bears through mud, grass and water!
There will also be gingerbread decorating, puppet and mask making and plenty more stories to listen to throughout the afternoon.
The aim is to celebrate National Storytelling Week and encourage children to pick up and book and enjoy reading.
Centre Leader, Clare Bowmer said: “We are looking forward to a great afternoon which will be a lot of fun. We want children to have a love of stories and reading and an enthusiasm for reading.”
