Elephant and Castle damaged in large kitchen blaze

The Elephant & Castle pub on Bury Road.
Nine fire fighters rushed to the Elephant and Castle pub in Bamford after the kitchen went up in flames.
Crews attended the pub on Bury Road, Bamford, at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon, (Wednesday 21 January), after an extractor unit set ablaze, causing severe fire damage to the kitchen and the room above.
Two cooks and two bar stewards were present at the time, but no-one was hurt.
A spokesman from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire fighters were there until 9.00 in the evening, it was quite a big fire, luckily no-one got hurt.
“Two fire engines attended and nine fire fighters.”
The Elephant and Castle pub is operating its bar services as normal.
