The Big Clean
The results are in! Rochdale Borough Council can now reveal the nominated ‘grot spots’ chosen to undergo a ‘Big Clean’ in Heywood.
Over the past few months, people across the borough have been having their say - telling the council which areas they think should be tidied up.
Following a fantastic response, Christmas and New Year was spent sifting through all the nomination forms to find the spots most in need of a Big Clean and sites throughout Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale have all been selected.
Chief Executive Roger Ellis said he was delighted with the public response to the Big Clean: “Everyone has the right to live somewhere they can be proud of. The Big Clean is helping to make this a reality by improving the appearance of local streets and enhancing the quality of life for residents. The clean-up blitz starts now.”
In Heywood five spots have been allocated their share of the Big Clean fund:
- Regent Street/Moore Street
- Argyle Parade
- Waterfold Lane
- Pot Hal
- Queen’s Park Road
Nine spots have been allocated their share of the Big Clean fund including:
- Walker Street Open Space
- Croftgates Road
- Sandy Lane
- Grimshaw Lane
- Railway Bed
- Boarshaw Clough
- Cooper Fold
- Parsons Field
- Davidson Drive
- Wince Close.
Although the deadline for submitting Big Clean site nominations has now closed, residents can still join in with the campaign and work with the council to host a Big Clean litter pick.
Whether you’re a member of a community or friends group, at school or you fancy getting your neighbours together to have a blitz on litter in your street, the council can help you organise and promote your own Big Clean litter pick.
