Broadfield Hotel is back in business

Date published: 20 January 2009

The renowned Broadfield Hotel has opened its doors after a £200,000 revamp.

The Victorian style lodge, which was rescued by new owners after going into administration, has been gutted and restored with traditional 1800’s style furniture, as well as new heating, plumbing and air conditions systems.

Rochdale Online reported last year how the previous owners caused chaos after taking large wedding deposits, just hours before announcing the collapse of the business, throwing many wedding plans into jeopardy.

But new owner Duncan Stewart has proudly announced that he has invited disappointed brides and grooms back to his innovative new development.

The hotel welcomed its first guest last night (Monday 19 January).

Duncan said: “We have gone completely over our budget of £150,000 because we wanted to do a proper job. An awful lot needed doing with the place and we are very pleased with the result.

“We have only had a soft opening, 12 rooms are currently available in the hotel, plus our dining services are active, but the Nightingale Suite and second floor bedrooms will be ready for use at the end of January”.

“We have stripped the rooms of all the modern furniture and replaced it with Victorian beds and drawers, which is how it should be.”

He added: “There is a lot of public interest with this hotel, and people are very eager to know about its progress, so I would be happy to show anyone around if they like”.

A grand opening is due for the end of January.
