Flying high with the BMFA

Around an hundred enthusiasts met at Springhill High School for a day of indoor model flying. The models being flown included everything from tiny rubber powered aircraft to expensive radio controlled replicas of the real thing.
The Rochdale of the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) is one of 750 clubs nationwide with over 37,000 members.
Speaking to Rochdale Online, North West Area Chairman, David Lloyd-Jones, said: “Model flying is a very popular hobby, as you can see by the turn out here today.
“The BMFA is the national governing body of the sport and our role is to promote, organise and encourage model flying in the UK.”
The BMFA runs an education programme that has one aim, to give every young person the opportunity to build and fly at least one model aircraft kit.
