A young girl has suffered a fractured skull after being hit by a bus in Rochdale town centre.
At approximately 3.00pm yesterday (Monday 12 January) police officers rushed to the scene on John Street, where the youngster had been seriously injured by the single-decker bus.
She was rushed to Rochdale Hospital and is currently being treated for a fractured skull. It is said she is currently in a stable condition.
Police Constable Karl Veale, from the Road Policing Unit, said: "Although the young girl suffered extremely nasty injuries, it is fortunate they were not more serious.
"The area was busy at the time of the collision and I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact police."
Witnesses are asked to call the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 8809
