Last chance to vote for Rochdale's health hero

Date published: 07 January 2009

The deadline to nominate the Rochdale’s local health hero is this Friday (9 January), so NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale is urging people to get their nominations in quickly.

Rochdale residents are being asked to nominate their local heroes for a new award for NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (NHS HMR). The ‘Heart of Local Health’ award, sponsored by Heywood’s twin German town Peine, has been developed to recognise the difference NHS workers make to the health of the borough. It could be a team as a whole or an individual that has provided outstanding service or care; as long as they work for or in association with NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale they can be nominated.

NHS staff that can be nominated includes district and community nursing staff, health visitors, mental health workers, therapists (such as physiotherapists, podiatrists, speech and language therapists), administrative staff such as receptionists, managerial staff such as PALS, complaints or public health staff working alongside NHS HMR such as GPs, dentists, pharmacists and opticians.

The winner will be selected by a panel of judges from the local Patients Council and the Trust.

The Heart of Local Health award will be presented at a ceremony on 5 February as part of the Trust’s annual staff awards, Going for Gold.

Nomination forms are available online from www.hmr.nhs.uk. Alternatively, contact the awards team on 01706 652824 or email: communications@hmrpct.nhs.uk.
