‘Outstanding’ start to New Year as Sunny Brow shines in Ofsted inspection
Date published: 05 January 2009
Sunny Brow Nursery is celebrating an extra special start to the New Year after being judged as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. Inspectors visited the school in Archer Park, Middleton last month and concluded that the school is ‘outstanding’, providing a stimulating, happy and caring learning environment.
Inspectors were particularly impressed with the quality of children’s learning, the personal development available and the quality of welfare support provided. Children’s attendance was deemed to be excellent and their behaviour ‘exceptional’.
The school was also praised for the opportunities for parents and toddlers to play together. Ofsted said that children with learning difficulties or disabilities achieve equally well and that the progress of all children is tracked meticulously.
Headteacher Julie White who was described as being a ‘highly competent and perceptive headteacher’ said she was delighted with the report: “It’s the perfect start to the New Year, I’d like to thank the parents and governors too, their significant contribution to achieving this outstanding inspection was recognised by Ofsted. Although the report has not identified any areas for improvement we are not complacent, and are going to use this as a springboard for continuing to develop and improve during 2009. We are always looking at ways of doing things better. The staff and I will be working hard to ensure these standards are maintained.”
Ofsted say the school provides outstanding value for money and has an excellent capacity to continue to improve.
Irene Davidson, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families said it is an exceptional report: “Sunny Brow have been judged as outstanding in all the categories, from overall effectiveness to achievements, standards and leadership. Julie and her team deserve much praise for their hard work and commitment.”
