Wardle Band play The Square
Date published: 05 January 2009
Wardle High School Band played carols and Christmas songs for a very large crowd in the Square, Wardle on Christmas Eve.
The weather was very mild, which was much appreciated by one and all. Father Christmas put in an appearance, following a rousing chorus of Jingle Bells, and handed out sweets to the children.
A dozen collectors raised money for Springhill Hospice, totalling a record amount of £1100.62.
Stuart Keane provided festive music before the Band arrived.
Lynda Redfern said: "It was good to see so many families coming together for what is to many people, the start of Christmas."
